| day 14, up at 4 and off to tiger hill to see sunrise over the himilya, with ruth, ulric, bob, sarah and of course the 3 rickshaws, a little cloudy but still well worth the effort of the early charge. The views on the road down didn't dissapoint but not for dave who has a touch of the darjeeling feeling, pass the imodium please! We've successfully negotiated the border and are now in nepal with all very little fuss and are putting our heads down for the night at the border town of kakarbitta, mainly due to dave being desperate to get out of the back of the rickshaw! | day 12 well the day started normally enough, relaxed breakfast at our 4 star hotel, traffic queued bumper to bumper for the first 5 km out of patna, but on patna's rickshaw's steel bumper strips are standard issue and so we picked up more than a couple of new scrapes in the first hour this morning! But then the real fun started when half way to purnia some idiot indian decided to get the handle bars of his motor bike inside our rickshaw and blissfully unaware of this fact we of course drove off when traffic cleared, at least one bike hit the deck behind us but we were secure in the knowledge that it was entirely his fault and so no reason to stop. However the story does not end there as the indian man in question renounted his bike and chased us for a good 10km trying to set up road blocks periodically and failing until after driving through a branch that he'd placed on the road and breaking our indicator lense we began to lose patience with him slightly and stopped, the nonsensical multilingual shouting match that ensued has been recorded for posterity and will no doubt provide much laughter for all, it ended with young irate indian being dragged away by some other locals who then told us to driv ** some text is missing ** |

| day 11 patna, a morning spent walking along varanasi's ghats, and being taken on a wild goose chase around the city by annoying rickshaw men! Jamie's day started badly when he was sprayed with gange 'holy' water, then stepped in dung, only to be fully splashed with the stuff halfway to patna by a passing truck, but we've told him it's all good luck and he's taken that onboard, also put the first scrape in the side of the rickshaw today whilst navigating our way through particularly tight traffic, only a scratch really, arrived in patna and after trying 2 other hotels we have tripled our previous record price on accommodation and are staying at the horrendously over priced marya patna, once its converted to pounds its cheap but we're at the stage of thinking in rupees now. Petrol tank is hanging in there despite some pretty hefty bumps today, but i don't think the exhaust is going to last till kat, definately the weak link in the rooster team, the boys |

| Hi everyone-well we're on day11 and heading to patna up north. We've passed through hyderabad, nagpur-we had a brilliant nite in a lil place called pandharkawada where we met a lovely young lad who showed us a great restaurant and ate with us- unfortunately (but quite entertaining) he got a bit drunk with the beer we had bought him! We then stopped in seoni and maihar and then ran out of luck with hotels last nite and ended up sleepin at a petrol station sumwhere on the highway with bugs the size of ur hand! Earlier in the day we also felt there was simply too much room in the rickshaw and so disguarded our roofrack back at our last hotel- better aerodynamics with the bags inside anyway! | just putting our feet up in the presidential suite of amravati's vandu international hotel! Its not easy roughing it through india you know! 370 ish km today and continually amazed by india's road systems, we have been on some of the best roads of the last week today and they are not even on our map! We can only assume that the cartographer's cannot keep up with the speed of india's relentless road building! After finding a battery for devon racing and a bolt for our exhaust in jalna and fitting both items we continued east in search of the lonar crater, well worth the visit once we found the actual crater, which took a bit of doing as sign posts, let alone english sign posts seem to be non existent within a hundred mile radius of the crater! On the breakdown front i think our exhaust repair came a little late as i think we now need a gasket but hey ho its not slowing the rooster any! The boys |

| started late mainly due to the acute delhi belli contracted by both david and jamie last night due to eating dodgy prawn curry! They have improved throughout the day tho and were fit enough to have chilli chicken for tea tonight! Todays other highlights include a 400 rupee fine for driving up a one way street in the wrong direction, the upside of that was that devon racing followed dutifully down said one way street and the police actually let us off and fined them the 400 rupees! The day continued with a new rooster speed record of a whopping 89 km/hr, which for those of you not au fait with a rickshaw is off the scale completely! But a word of warning to all rickshaw runners attempting to achieve such speeds, about 3 seconds of running at 89 caused our engine to overheat and seize! Thankfully once it had cooled down again, 20 mins later, it freed off and were on our way once more! 288 km today, and holed up for the night in very nice but only semi built hotel about 20 km south of chiplin on nh17! Oh and our exhaust is missing its only fixing bolt but we're ignoring it at the moment! Pg |

| stopped for the night in anjuna, one of goa's northern beach resorts, 367 km today, the roads were both good and bad in places, shook the roof rack to bits on the ruts so had to pile all kit inside, but the upside of that was that due to reduced wind resistance we managed a rooster rickshaw record of 75 km/hr so we may not fix the roof rack! But that decision is for tomoro, for tonight is about getting plastered with devon racing in anjuna, could be a later start tomoro! The boys |

| greetings all from a rickshaw repair workshop somewhere in the back streets of udupi! We now have a working headlight, progress is being made on the 'melody horn' and we are reasonably confident of having indicators by the time we leave! Also had slight fuel issues today but managed to pay a local mechanic 62 pence to solve them so all good. Spirits are high, 310 km today, goa is tomoro's goal, from the boys at the end of day 2!@ |
